2012 UNSCC Spring Mixer News

On Saturday March 31, United Neighborhoods of Santa Clara County (UNSCC) hosted their annual Neighborhoods Mixer at Santa Clara Valley Water District offices in San Jose's Almaden Valley. Approximately 100 community members from neighborhoods all over Santa Clara County attended, even though it was a rainy morning.

Our keynote speaker for the day was California State Senator Joe Simitian, who addressed a packed conference room on '13 Tips for Successful Advocacy', directed at how people can successfully and productively interact with municipal representatives and the media. The talk was so well received that one of the attendees sent us the following email:

Five members of the Coyote Creek Neighborhood Association (in San Jose) attended the UNSCC Neighborhoods Mixer last Saturday; it was really informational and we are all glad that we went. The guest speaker suggested that the very best way to "get what you want" (from the 13 Tips) is to send a thank you letter to the editor of the Mercury News

Here is the "Thank You letter to State Senator Joe Simitian" that was sent by us:
